...But what? She's fat? She needs to lose weight? That phrase almost always ends with those two sentences, or with other variations. Why is it that a woman can be pretty but if she's overweight, that just suddenly breaks the deal? Sure, there are plenty people out there who can appreciate both but this way of thinking is all too common.
...But that's just my opinion.
In my first entry I mentioned that I could relate to the fat girl in a book, for she had a "skinny, evil" best friend. Not my case, however I have definitely met these types in my life. How I was able to relate was that like a lot of big girls, she seemed to be very cynical and sarcastic (how many of YOU out there has clowned on yourself first, before anyone else did in order to soften any upcoming blows?) and also, like a lot of big girls, had this strong, outspoken fierce attitude laying within. However, it was pretty much until she was at the end of her rope before she decided to stick up for herself.
Perhaps by sticking to that "safe haven" of sarcasm and cynicism, people may just assume that not only an individual big girl indeed has issues with her image but serious attitude problems. Thus leading to other social problems but thats another story. Better easier said than done, but why don't we big women try finding that fierceness inside BEFORE we're ready to choke someone out? Channel it towards something positive; if you really are bothered by your weight, use that energy for a power walk or cut loose in your living room. If something is lacking at your place of work, use that energy to take the initiative to solve the problem. Either way, you'll benefit in more ways then one; Losing those extra pounds, or perhaps a raise! To buy you the new clothes you need after losing those pounds :D)
So go ahead ladies, embrace that pretty face, and don't stop there. Once you find something to appreciate the rest just flows in like water.
